With hundreds of millions of children and youth still out of school due to COVID-19, the need to ensure adequate financing of education systems has never been more urgent. This is, however, threatened by the looming economic crisis that is already hitting education budgets. The Nordic countries are among the world leaders in education financing and place particular emphasis on public education systems for all children, regardless of their parents’ income or status. But is this simply a Nordic utopia or is there something the rest of the world can learn from the Nordic Countries or maybe something the Nordic countries can learn from the world?
• Gabriela Bucher, Executive Director Oxfam International
• Bård Vegar Solhjell, Director General, NORAD
With input from:
• All-Africa Students Union
• Dejan Bojanic, CEO Save the Children Youth Sweden
This event is organised as a ‘Nordic Talk’ funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and organised by Oxfam IBIS, Save the Children Norway, All-Africa Students Union and the Norwegian embassy in Ethiopia.
