The European Union (EU) is a key actor when it comes to international development and partnerships to promote the Sustainable Development Goals. The EU implements its international partnerships in different ways: humanitarian aid through the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and sustainable development support through the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA).
International and development policies are debated in the European Parliament. Oxfam IBIS has long term experience of working with the EU through grants in Mozambique, Central America, regional Africa, South Sudan, Uganda, Burkina Faso and West Africa. We are responsible for formulating the EU’s international partnership and development policy, with the ultimate goal to reduce poverty, ensure sustainable development, and promote democracy, human rights, and the rule of law across the world.
Our mission is to contribute to sustainable development, to eradicate poverty, and promote peace and the protection of human rights through international partnerships that uphold and promote European values and interests.
