Oxfam Denmark has been in a strategic partnership with Danida for over 30 years. Our partnership entails collaboration around Danida's priorities: fighting poverty, promoting sustainable growth and stability, and ensuring equality of rights and opportunities in developing countries.

Danida is the term used for Denmark’s development cooperation, which is an area of activity under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Among other things, the cooperation consists of a strategic cooperation agreement regarding both long-term development and emergency aid. In the period 2022-2025, special grants (to be added later) and strategic dialogue on topics such as local partnerships, the participation of women and youth in peacebuilding, responsible tax policy, and coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Danish NGOs and the Danish embassies.

Strategic partnership 2022-2025

Oxfam Denmark has entered a new strategic partnership grant with the Danish MFA, running from 2022-2025 as a continuation from the 2018-21 grant. The Strategic Partnership grant totals 103 million DKK per year. The new partnership centres around Danida’s strategic priorities: Human rights and democratic values, fragile contexts and displacement, climate and green solutions. Throughout the programming Oxfam Denmark prioritises working with women, girls and youth, as well as greening its engagements.

With these funds we are running programmes in 12 countries. These countries are: Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, Uganda, Syria and neighbouring countries (Lebanon), Palestine, Yemen, Guatemala and Colombia. Additional grants

As a part of our strategic partnership with Danida, Oxfam Denmark is the recipient of additional grants. These grants are released to support the existing country programmes funded by the strategic partnership according to emerging needs over the 4 year period. So far, Oxfam Denmark has been granted 5 grants from Danida which are listed below.

  • in Northern Lebanon a project to increase resilience by improving access to food and basic services such as WASH and protection and improved livelihoods among vulnerable refugee and host communities with 7.9 million DKK

  • Mali project for loss and damage support, contributing to climate adaptation of local small scale farming methods to be more productive and sustainable in the Segou region with 5 million DKK.

  • Mali project to improve the living conditions and livelihoods among vulnerable people impacted by the food crisis, focusing on providing basic humanitarian needs and protection with 3.4 million DKK.

  • In Abs District, Hajjah in Yemen to improve food security for the most vulnerable, food insecure people through multi purpose cash support, emergency livestock support and gender sensitive cash support with 9.5 million DKK.

  • In Kenya as a response to the drought aiming to improve access to water, protection, and food security among drought affected households with 5 million DKK.

About the strategic partnership
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has entered into new 4-year Strategic Partnerships (2022-2025) with 18 Danish civil society organizations - including Oxfam Denmark. This is part of the implementation of Denmark's new development policy strategy "United for the World".
